Game 2 - Zonah Developers vs IBM CTH
IBM had won all 5 of their league games and Zonah had only managed to win 2 games out of 5. IBM were clear favorites to win the game.
Both teams were greeted with rain at the ground and a majority of Zonah players decided to play some football while getting drenched in the rain while waiting for the rain to stop, with the heavy cloud cover the chances of having a game seemed very weak.
The Rain finally did stop and after some great efforts by the groundsmen and also some players and umpires assisting them the pitch was ready to play. IBM Won the toss and decided to bat, the match was reduced to a 15 over game and the first inning finally started at 3:50.
IBM CTH Batting
Zonah got off to a good start when Manzoor took a great catch to dismiss the dangerous Mohd Ali off Yaqub's bowling. This made way for in form batsman Karthik to come to the crease and he made his presence felt by hitting a 6 off the very first ball he faced. He went on to smash the ball around scoring almost 30 runs off the next 2 overs which was followed by a good tight over by Manzoor.
Karthik did get one life when a catch was dropped at long off in Yaqub's over. He was finally caught leg before the wicket off Atif's bowling in the 8th over after scoring 55 of just 24 balls and adding a partnership of 86 runs with Shadaan.
IBM CTH lost some quick wickets after losing Karthik, Chandu was bowled by Ali Khan and then Sagar had a Magical over getting 3 wickets in an over and was the pick of the bowlers finishing with 3 overs 15 for 4.
Shadaan was the second highest scorer of the innings with 22 off 23 balls and IBM CTH finished their innings after being bowled out at 131 in the 15th over when Ali Khan took 2 wickets.
The ZONAH Chase
Osama and Yaqub started off the Zonah chase and in the 3rd over there was a mix-up that ended up in Osama being run out.
Hasan was bowled by Rauf soon after while attempting to increase the run rate.
Qutub came to the crease next to support Yaqub who kept scoring consistently at one end.
Yaqub was finally out caught by the keeper Ali off Madhav's bowling on 30 off 21 balls which included five boundaries.
With Qutub and Habeeb Ali at the crease and the run rate sky rocketing Zonah needed magical performances from them under pressure. Both of them looked in good touch and the runs started flowing steadily.
The run rate was still pretty high, Qutub provided some much needed relief by hitting Riaz for 18 runs off one over which included 2 sixes and a four. He tried to do the same thing off Madhav's bowling but was caught right at the long on boundary by Rauf.
Ali Khan walked in and hit a six of the first ball he faced, and off the second ball tried to go for a risky second run recognizing the high required rate and was run out.
Atif replaced Ali Khan to support Habeeb Ali who was batting well at the other end.
Last over.... Atif on strike..... Zonah needs 16 runs to win
Ball 1 - Atif cuts the ball and places it perfectly between backward point and 3rd man for a four.
Ball 2 - single
Ball 3 - Habeeb Ali hits a four
7 runs required of 3 balls!!!
Ball 4 - quick two
5 runs to win off 2 balls
Ball 5 - Habeeb Ali swings the bat and send the ball flying over the mid wicket boundary for a HUGE SIX!!!
thats it!! Zonah pulls off an amazing victory!!!! the players sprint on the field with excitement!!
