It was one off those once in a lifetime situations where a team is tested to its limits, a situation where the ability to handle pressure is as important as cricketing skills. Chasing 137 R&I needed 29 runs off the last 2 overs, it was an improbable target but Santhosh Peri and Abheek Chatterjee stuck in there and with some big hitting the target got closer and closer.
- It came down to 8 runs from 3 balls
- Peri takes a single - 7 runs from 2 balls
- Shankar bowls a dot ball to Abheek - Pegasystems seem to be in total control - R&I needs 7 to win of the last ball
- Shankar bowling the last ball off the innings and Abheek hits it over the Boundary for a SIX!!!!!!
- In a stunning turn of events the match is tied and goes to a super over....
In the super over, riding on the momentum R&I beats Pegasystems quite easily but this match goes down as one of the most exciting games in HCCL history.. Congratulations to Vishal and the R&I team for staying cool under pressure and pulling off this Victory.
Peri was given the man of the match award for his brilliant performance.
All teams should keep that spirit in difficult situations.
