The Quarter Finals of the MISA Laminates cup were filled with excitement all over.
Game 1 - R&I vs PETE Transformers
In the First game group A's R&I took on group B's Pete Transformers.
Pete was widely regarded as the favorite in this game and after winning the toss they put R&I in to bat.
Lots of R&I Batsmen got off to a start but were unable to carry on and make big scores. Kapil was the highest scorer with 28 runs off 30 balls & R&I finished their innings with 141 runs on the board which seemed about 20 runs short especially considering the fact that the top 2 run scorers of the tournament were both from Pete Transformers.
R&I got off to a good start when Sandeep got the wicket of Nitesh on the first ball of the third over. This was a very important wicket since Nitesh was the highest scorer of the tournament so far but he was replaced by Praveen who happened to be the second highest !!
Praveen and Raghu put together a 70 run partnership and looked like Pete was sailing to victory with the score at 87/1 at the end of 10 overs.
The 11th over was bowled by Dhamudaran and it changed the game completely, he was able to get a wicket of the first ball when he bowled the well set Raghu of the first ball and then also got the wicket of the dangerous Upendar in the same over. He finished his spell with 4 overs 21 for 4 and other bowlers also chipped in with some great performances.
It finally came down to Pete needing 6 runs to win off the last over and Santhosh Babu was batting on 14 off 16 balls.
R&I captain Vishal decided to give the responsibility of bowling the important over to Santhosh Kumar Peri .
Ball 1 - Wicket!!! - Omkar takes a catch to dismiss Santhosh Babu
Ball 2 - Batsmen had crossed, Karun plays the ball for 2 runs
4 balls and 4 runs to win
Ball 3 - Dot Ball
Ball 4 - Dot Ball
